Details of disbled cricket can be found at the Cricket Federation for People with Disabilities website (www.CFPD.org.uk). We acknowledge the vision of the federation and whole heartedly support it. We are also becoming far more Community orientated. We now have Club and School working partnership with St Osmund’s, School and Dorchester Middle School. We also have forged good relationships with the Town Council and appreciate the work undertaken by the Council officials.
The Executive Committee were pleased to accept the offer from the ECB of £5000 to be placed on their Pitch Upgrade Scheme which was completed in November 2003. The Town Council kindly made up the shortfall.
Other projects include the arrival of covers for the wicket in 2005 and we would like to thank Colin Bowden of Dickinson and Bowden for a substantial contribution to their costs and to the vice presidents who contributed to the balance required.
Other projects which are covered by the CCDF which we hope to have more news soon is the funding for a new score box and news on this will also be known very soon.
We at the club have been proactive by increasing the numbers of qualified coaches and first aiders. We also agreed to pay for our groundsman, to become a member of the newly formed Dorset Association of Groundsmen.
The Youth Section goes from strength to strength and we have increased the number of teams entered into the various leagues. A qualified coach has been appointed to each of the sides to encourage good technique and improve the standard of play.
